Salt Pond A8 is a part of the South San Francisco Bay salt ponds restoration project. These ponds are located in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area, including areas near Alviso, Mountain View, and Sunnyvale. The restoration project aims to convert former industrial salt ponds back into tidal marshes and wetlands, benefiting the ecosystem and providing habitat for various wildlife.
Baylands Park provides over 70 acres of developed parkland offering active recreation, pathways and picnic areas for families and large groups. An additional 105 acres of seasonal wetlands is protected as a wetlands preserve, providing habitat for plants and wildlife. On Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors enjoy the community feel of the Sunnyvale Farmer’s Market, traditionally held on South Murphy Street. After shopping, round off the afternoon with a visit to one of 18 award-winning neighborhood parks, like Baylands Park on Caribbean Drive, DeAnza Park on Lime Drive, or Ponderosa Park on Henderson Avenue.
Ocean-themed Seven Seas Park features a pirate ship play structure, half basketball court and a multi-use field. Picnic areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Taping or roping off tables is not allowed. Specialized equipment such as inflatable slides or bounce houses can't be used at this park.
This Victorian-themed park offers picnic sites with electrical outlets, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits and a reservable gazebo. A cricket pitch and reservable multi-use sports fields are available on adjacent school site when school is not in session.
